EU standards fostering European integration of EaP countries

The Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia are the three Eastern Partnership countries that aim to become EU member state and have taken the most advanced steps in this regard. All the mentioned countries have signed the Association Agreement with the EU, including establishing the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) that, in particular, aims at integrating the Moldovan, Ukrainian and Georgian economy toward the European one. This implies, also, the integration of its standardization system into the European one.

In this respect, CIPM in partnership with Georgia's Reforms Associates (GRASS) and Strategic and Security Studies Group in Kiev is implementing the project "Enhancing the role of Civil Society and SMEs from EaP countries in the implementation of European standards" that benefits from the support through the EaP CSF Re-granting Scheme.
The aim of this project is to support the European integration of the EaP countries by enhancing the implementation of European standards in private and public sectors, sharing best practices. To contribute to achieving the overall objective, the consortium will approach the following components:

  1. Raise the awareness of civil society actors from the Republic of Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine regarding standardization and facilitate access to information about standards and related activities;
  2. Strengthen the capacity of National Standards Bodies from EaP countries for a better dialogue on effective implementation of European standards in the framework of DCFTA and set a proactive approach for civil society actors for participation in European standardization process.
  3. Facilitated training for 50 entrepreneurs from Moldova, focusing on the integration of EU standards and the strategic renunciation of GOST, thereby equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to align their businesses with European market requirements and practices.
  4. Delivered project management training specifically designed for 30 women entrepreneurs, addressing their unique business needs and empowering them for success in the marketplace.
